I also plan to buy an HDV camcorder in a few months, will also be interested in feedback. Concerning Kdenlive, the changes should be quite minimal and easy to implement. Regarding MLT, I see 2 issues: 1) FFMPEG: Can FFMPEG play HDV files ? Seems like it can at least play the mpeg files ( http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-user/2006-August/003672.html ) 2) MLT: Currently, MLT only works with PAL/NTSC standard formats. I do not know if it is possible to add an HDV template, how much work it would require and if someone can find the time to do it... I am interested to hear what the MLT guys say about it... regards jb
