The trace is not very useful because it does not follow the fork of the 
kmail process. Please run kmail with the --nofork option and try again.

You could also run kmail in gdb to get a backtrace. With precompiled 
binaries the backtrace most likely will not be very useful because the 
debug symbols are missing, but it's still worth a try. Run
  gdb kmail
then at the gdb prompt enter
  run --nofork
and after the crash enter
  bt
