This is a bug in Qt, a workaround has recently been added to kdelibs.
You probably have the same problem with SSL sites in Konqueror, right?
Please reopen if you can still reproduce with the lastest SVN version (make
sure you recompile kdelibs, then kdepimlibs) and only have the issue in KMail.
