My earlier diagnosis was incorrect. I am definitely seeing lots of duplicates,
but I don't know what is triggering this. I seems to appear in certain mail
boxes and not in others. In those where it occurs, it doesn't always occur. I
will try to find out the pattern, but so far it is mysterious.
