Kubuntu jaunty have this but it is still in alpha release but seems to work ok for me and fixes a somewhat similar bug 180741 for me. Be careful and check if it is ok for you to upgrade if you want to do this. They say there are issues with Xorg and fglrx driver and switch knetworkmanager to the applet if you use it.
