Apparently the message withholds the *real* problem from the user, which is unacceptable. [In that particular case, the server seems to have been having temporary issues (happens all the time, but I usually just get a "cannot connect" error) since it began working again a little while later. But I would have never been able to guess with a poor error message like that.
