I have an local folder with new messages. I read the first and delete it (no
matter if via key 'del', 'shift-del', or via context menu). The message got
moved to the trash bin, but in the message window (preview?) it still got
displayed and not the "new current" message, the header pane got updated
correctly. I can delete several mails and I always see the first one in the
message window.
