Summary: Feature request: Japanese / "Eastern" emoticons plugin
                    for Kmail (and Kopete?)
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: SuSE RPMs
        OS/Version: unspecified
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

It would be fantastic if there were a plugin that would enable one to paste
Japanese emoticons (or, by extension, "Eastern emoticons", since there are
others as well, e.g. Korean ones consisting of Hangul characters) easily into
Kmail emails (and/or into Kopete messages).

The problems with Japanese emoticons are:
(1) they are extremely numerous;
(2) they use a lot of characters that are not easily accessible via a regular
keyboard.

(For both reasons, Japanese texting equipment such as mobile phones usually
have an 'insert emoticon' menu).

OK, there are probably more important things in life than emoticons, but I'm
sure lots of users from Asia (&from the Western manga / anime circles) would
love this feature.

STRUCTURE:
Although no programmer, I assume the structure of such a plugin wouldn't be too
difficult.
'Standard' emoticons can easily be collected from various open source websites.
The plugin would then offer a menu to insert emotions, at best through a
hierarchical list (e.g. Insert emoticon > Happy > Smiling face 1; or Insert
emoticon > Angry > Frustrated 3) that displays both a name as well as the
actual emoticon.
