It does not have to do with the textbox having focus, it has to do with the mouse position. Obviously when the mouse is above a clearButton when the line is deleted, the other line over which the mouse is now does not react until you move the mouse out of the clearButton rectangle and come back to it. I checked it and found this to be a Qt4.5.2 bug (underMouse() delivering wrong value in that case).
