Bug ID: 302749
Severity: wishlist
Version: unspecified
Priority: NOR
CC: [email protected]
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: KAddressBook promotes Microsoft Skype
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Ubuntu Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Component: general
Product: kaddressbook
I took a look at KAddressBook today, wondering if it would sync to my Android
address book, maybe via Gmail.
When I opened the configuration, the first entry was Contact Actions. I noticed
that the action drop-downs for "Dial Phone Number" and "Send SMS" had built-in
support for Microsoft Skype -- and nothing else!
It is utterly shameful for a piece of free software to promote a closed,
proprietary network and its encrypted binaries in this way. Either some entries
for common open standards solutions should be added, or the Skype entry should
be removed. (Or ideally, both of those things!)
Reproducible: Always
