My mails come from a Lotus Notes client 7.0.3 (since Kmail2 only the second worst mail client in the world - its really not a mail client which is only a little excuse). My work around: 1. Save mail as "msg.mbox". 2. Import file in Thunderbird 3. Save the attachments. Thanks to Mozilla for a working mail client!
