update: after some time there is no longer a problem , contacts are being
suggested in composer.
however I am now not sure if this is missing or not intended, but it was once
possible to launch new mail message from the krunner after tyoing a contact
name.
as for the output of the above commands:
$ nepomukcmd query 'select count(?r) where { ?r a nco:Contact . }'
callret-0 -> "24486"^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#int>
