I can confirm that it was STILL BROKEN in 4.11.1. See post 20 above. akonadi_imap_resource would start to spam the imap server (some times up to 30 minutes AFTER I closed kmail. By removing duplicates Resources as mentioned in +21, AND setting the resource to be closed when Kmail stops (See: Kmail Settings, Accounts, Retrieval Options button on each account.) How I got duplicates resources I don't know. Duplicates have not re-appeared. This machine was upgraded from one release (opensuse) to another, skipping a couple of releases.
