--- Comment #1 from [email protected] --- So there is some new important information: I use a VPN service and when the connection is established, akregator works and gets all feeds. If the VPN is not activated, akregator fails every time with "file retriever error: 123". I used this often, because I usually don't log into my e-mail accounts over VPN and it never was a problem, akregator worked fine, no matter if the VPN was activated or not. On a sidenote: rekonq seems to have adopted this behaviour. If I'm not logged into the VPN, it doesn't load sites anymore. Also, quasselirc fails to do anything (connecting, listing, displaying correctly) no matter if I'm logged into the VPN or not.
