Hey all,

I have lots of switch access ports defined as /30 subnets, with only a single usable IPv4 address in the pool for each port. Currently, my switch acts as a DHCP relay, so I select the subnet based on the GWADDR.

My problem is: some devices move from port to port, and when they do, sometimes the (single) address lease in that pool is held by the machine previously attached to the port.

I am wondering if I might overcome this problem by using flex_id so that any device attaching behind this DHCP relay/gateway is always granted a lease, regardless of their MAC or other identifying metadata. Any other suggestions would also be welcome.

Thanks!
