Hi Xuo, I don't know if you made any progress on this.
I have been playing a bit more with dhpv6 these days and in fact, when a client is assigned to class UNKNOWN I believe that it only means that no host-reservation was found by KEA for that client. It does not mean that your client-class was not assigned to the client. I have for example a client that got this: 2023-02-02 15:23:50.314 DEBUG [kea-dhcp6.dhcp6/2605.139812835567808] DHCP6_CLASS_ASSIGNED duid=[xxxx], tid=0x37acf: client packet has been assigned to the following class(es): UNKNOWN 2023-02-02 15:23:50.314 WARN [kea-dhcp6.alloc-engine/2605.139812835567808] ALLOC_ENGINE_V6_ALLOC_FAIL_CLASSES duid=[xxxx], tid=0x37acf: Failed to allocate an IPv6 address for client with classes: ALL, HA_kea1, my_class1, my_class2, my_class3, UNKNOWN So from the above lines you can see that KEA has associated not only class "UNKNOWN" to the client, but also my_class1, my_class2, my_class3 for which we got EVAL_RESULT Expression my_class1 evaluated to 1 EVAL_RESULT Expression my_class2 evaluated to 1 EVAL_RESULT Expression my_class3 evaluated to 1 For each packet, you will find 2 debug lines from KEA, here is another example I have (for a KNOWN client this time): 2023-02-02 16:43:59.942 DEBUG [kea-dhcp6.dhcp6/7590.139769432221888] DHCP6_CLASS_ASSIGNED duid=[yyyy], tid=0x64ffd2: client packet has been assigned to the following class(es): KNOWN 2023-02-02 16:43:59.943 DEBUG [kea-dhcp6.dhcp6/7590.139769432221888] DHCP6_CLASS_ASSIGNED duid=[yyyy], tid=0x64ffd2: client packet has been assigned to the following class(es): ALL, HA_kea1, my_class1, my_class2, my_class3, KNOWN Hope this helps. I have been trying different approaches to get client class working with DHCPv6. Sent with Proton Mail secure email.
