Inflation Update December 11, 2008
Inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) for
the week ended November 29, 2008 decreased to 8.00% as compared to 8.40% a week
ago.
The Index for all commodities for the week decreased to
233.60 as compared to 233.70 in the previous week. The decrease in the WPI
index is due to decrease in the prices of food articles whereas manufactured
products, fuel, power and light remain unchanged.
The wholesale price-based inflation was 3.11% during
the corresponding week last year.
