Steel Authority of India (SAIL) reported a substantial drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008.
During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 56.41% to Rs 8,433.40 million from Rs 19,346.60 million in the same quarter previous year. Net sales declined 6.43% to Rs 89,206 million, while total income for the quarter fell marginally 3.78% to Rs 94,756.70 million, when compared with the prior year period.
