The National  Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has
sanctioned a loan to the tune of Rs 206.01 crore to the Andhra Pradesh
government under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), making
the current year's total sanctions to Rs 1,315.23 crore


With this, the total cumulative sanctions under various tranches of RIDF to
Andhra Pradesh stands at Rs 10,609.05 crore, against which the state
government could utilise R 6,825.97 crore only up to January 2009.

In a press statement on Thursday, Nabard said it had sanctioned 84 rural
road projects for a length of 422.01 kilometre and 15 rural bridge projects
spanning 1,508.38 metre in 19 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

These projects, to be implemented by the roads and buildings department of
the state government, would benefit 2.45 million population in 582 villages
and provide access to 207 marketing centres and mandal headquarters. The
works are expected to create 2.99 million mandays of non-recurring
employment in rural areas, the release added.
