* AGRICULTURE: Farm secretary says India 's 2011-12 grain output estimate
raised to 257 mln tn.

* AVIATION: Religare Voyages has started a regional airline--Mantra
Regional Airline--to tap demand in smaller cities. Air India is planning
its biggest bond sale to raise funds to buy Dreamliner planes from Boeing
Co.

* COMMODITIES: Commodity futures rose Monday, with many contracts hitting
their upper circuits due to concerns of crop loss due to weak rains.

* ECONOMY: RBI Governor D. Subbarao said the wholesale price inflation of
7.25% for June is way above the central bank's threshold.

* ENERGY: Public sector undertakings' Jul 16-31 diesel revenue loss seen
9.95 rupees a ltr.

* FAST-MOVING CONSUMER GOODS: Companies such as NESTLE INDIA, Coca-Cola,
PepsiCo India , PARLE PRODUCTS, and BRITANNIA INDUSTRIES are either
increasing prices or reducing grammage to beat input cost rise. Godrej
Group to buy out its partner Hershey Co's 51% controlling stake in joint
venture Godrej Hershey for around 4 bln rupees.

* INVESTMENT: The Prime Minister's Office has set up committee to identify
areas for private investment in inland waterway.

* MINING: A panel headed by ecologist Madhav Gadgil has recommended capping
iron ore mining in Goa at 20-25 mln tn a year for the next five years. This
is nearly half of what the state produces and exports now.

* MONSOON: During Jun 1-Jul 16, India received rainfall of 243.1 mm, 21%
below normal, India Meteorological Department has said.

* POWER: Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission has hiked
electricity tariffs by average 12% for 2012-13 (Apr-Mar).

* STEEL: India has raised import duty on some steel products to 7.5% from
5.0%.

* SUGAR: India has imposed 10% duty on sugar imports.

* TELECOM: Vodafone India has moved Telecom Disputes Settlement and
Appellate Tribunal against Department of Telecommunications on the latter's
view on spectrum liberalisation. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
Chairman Rahul Khullar has dismissed industry fears of call rates rising
steeply because of the regulator's proposals for upcoming airwaves auctions.
