ICRAF is looking  for a  Remote Sensing & GIS Assistant to be based in Bogor

The Position 





The position is to assist Spatial Analysis Unit of ICRAF Southeast Asia, Bogor, 
in Geospatial data processing and management for related studies and projects 
and also to perform other research-support functions of Spatial Analysis Unit 
in geospatial data production and provision to scientists in the organization 
and partner organizations.





 





Duties and Responsibilities: 





The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:





·          Geospatial data processing (GIS processing) including integration 
with non-spatial (tabular) data;





·          Satellite image interpretation: pre-processing and classification;





·          Field data collection including GPS handling;





·          Presenting data and research results in informative and creative 
manner especially in cartographic works;





·          Geospatial database, metadata-base input and management, and 
organize storage for non digital data (CD/DVD, etc);





·          Keeping track on published and public domain relevant data, 
developing network with government agencies and NGOs that produce relevant data;





·          Performing other related activities which may arise from time to 
time in support of ICRAF's mandate and the Spatial Analysis Unit in particular, 
including some administrative supports.





 





Qualifications and Skills Required:





·          Have at least a BSc. degree in the subjects related to natural / 
environment / earth sciences, e.g. Statistic, Mathematics, Computer, Forestry, 
Geography, Agriculture, Agro-climatology;





·          Having knowledge on geospatial data handling; experience on GIS 
work, and preferably Remote Sensing; 





·          Besides the Microsoft Office suite, have good familiarity with GIS 
packages, especially ESRI-based ArcView, ArcGIS and ArcInfo, and preferably 
familiarity with one of the image processing packages ( ERDAS 
Imagine/PCI-Geomatica/IDRISI/ILWIS) and with GPS;





·          Have a basic knowledge/sense or strong interest in  in geospatial 
database, metadata-base,  cartography and map production;





·          Have a good command of English and Indonesian;





·          Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multicultural 
and multidisciplinary teams.
