I'm not sure -- you'll have to look through Derik's notes and commit logs regarding the release in of Kepler 2.2 and 2.1 to see if there are any clues. You could also look at the svn log for the Getting Started guide to see if there was any editing activity there in prep for those releases -- I remember Derik doing a bunch of document edits prior to those releases, but can't remember exactly which those were.
