Yes, using Java 1.6 is good, I'm not sure if we still compile in 1.5. See: http://lists.nceas.ucsb.edu/kepler/pipermail/kepler-users/2010-December/002375.html I believe Dan recently made some fixes so we compile in Java 7. I haven't tried it, nor looked at the changes for possible inclusion in Kepler 2.3.0, but I hope to.
