I followed the instructions in Microsoft's Step-by-Step guide to Interoperability and can kinit from solaris using my Win2k KDC. But I have a few questions.
I have no ktutil program on my client so I just copied the keytab file to the /etc directory. I don't know if it's even being read. I know what a keytab file is but don't know why it's needed for a Win2k KDC. I am able to hit my solaris KDC just fine without the file. Is it needed? Why? What password is in it? What uses it?
