Thanks Jiajia for the hints. Yes it's my bad entering into the wrong folder.
Below are my trying again, and it worked out.
Some issues can be seen, for example, [output-keytab] means the option isn't a
must, be in fact it does.
I suggest we don't stop here as these are not blocking things.

c:\work\projects\kerby-all-1.0.0-RC2\kerby-dist\kdc-dist>bin\kdcinit.cmd
Usage: bin\kdcinit.cmd [conf-dir] [output-keytab]
This tool initializes KDC backend and should only be performed the
first time,
and the output keytab should be carefully kept to administrate/kadmin
KDC later.
        Example:
                bin\kdcinit.cmd conf admin.keytab

c:\work\projects\kerby-all-1.0.0-RC2\kerby-dist\kdc-dist>bin\kdcinit.cmd conf
Usage: bin\kdcinit.cmd [conf-dir] [output-keytab]
This tool initializes KDC backend and should only be performed the
first time,
and the output keytab should be carefully kept to administrate/kadmin
KDC later.
        Example:
                bin\kdcinit.cmd conf admin.keytab

c:\work\projects\kerby-all-1.0.0-RC2\kerby-dist\kdc-dist>bin\kdcinit.cmd .\conf

Hi Kai,
Can you find the jars in directory-kerby/kerby-dist/kdc-dist/target/lib?

Thanks
Jiajia

Yes I should run the *.cmd ones on windows. But when I tried,

c:\work\projects\kerby\kerby-dist\kdc-dist>bin\kdcinit.cmd
Error: Could not find or load main class
org.apache.kerby.kerberos.tool.kdcinit.KdcInitTool

c:\work\projects\kerby\kerby-dist\kdc-dist>bin\start-kdc.cmd conf
Error: Could not find or load main class
org.apache.kerby.kerberos.kdc.KerbyKdcServer

Regards,
Kai

Oops, looks like an issue.

After mvn package -Pdist,

$ bin/start-kdc.sh conf
Error: Could not find or load main class
org.apache.kerby.kerberos.kdc.KerbyKdcServer

Or is there anything wrong with my setup? Thanks. Note on Windows.

Regards,
Kai

Subject: [VOTE] Release Apache Kerby 1.0.0-RC2

Hi all,

This is the 2st Apache Kerby release (1.0.0-RC2). This is a release candidate,
which means we are reaching an API freeze, but some bugs might be fixed before
we move to an official GA.
