Bug description:
  The following tests are failing in focal -143/144

  11:12:47 DEBUG| [stdout] # [22] ftrace - test for function event
  triggers    [FAIL]

  11:15:51 DEBUG| [stdout] # [50] Meta-selftest    [FAIL]

  11:19:39 DEBUG| [stdout] # [82] (instance)  ftrace - test for function
  event triggers    [FAIL]

  This seems to be a regression from -139.
