Title:
6.2.0-26 kernel unplug external monitor during suspend not switching
to in-built display
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
My laptop is Thinkpad X1 Extreme gen 3.
Recently I reinstalled the system and now it's been using linux-
image-6.2.0-26-generic.
How I reproduce the bug:
- Connect Xreal (Nreal) Air glasses via USB-C (which acts as an external
monitor).
- In Display Setting set single display -> Air monitor.
- Suspend the laptop.
- Unplug the USB-C cable while the laptop is suspended.
- Wake up the laptop.
Result: the built-in screen not lighting up, the system seems to have
frozen, as pressing the power button to suspend again isn't working.
This is reproducible both with Nouveau and Nvidia drivers.
Solution:
Change to linux-image-5.15.0-25-generic:
The problem is gone, unplugging the USB-C cable during suspend and then
waking the laptop up switches it to the in-built display automatically.
The problem is also not reproducible on 5.19 kernel (I don't remember
the exact version I had before reinstalling the system, or if it was
5.18).
Using X11. Haven't tried to test this with Wayland yet.
