Title: 8086:0166 [Lenovo G580 2189] Black screen without "nomodeset" boot option Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I recently updated the firmware on my Lenovo G580 (Bluetooth being broken with the old one), and now I can only boot 13.04 (installed as well as Live USB) with nomodeset enabled. Even with that option, I seem to be stuck on software rendering, can't change the screen brightness, and trying to switch to a VT only freezes the system on a solid gray screen, but I guess that's something for separate bug reports.
