Hi,

of course. I downloaded the daily-live "saucy-desktop-amd64.iso
12-Aug-2013 08:16 866M".

He recognizes the screen but it is not working very well.

I used xrandr --auto, the notebook screen is frozen and the external
screen is on and has artefacts. The speed was horrible, type a
character and it appers some time later.

I think he didn't make it to send the full crash report but I saved the crash
files.
Should I post the files here? There was a message that they may contain
sensitive information, but it was a live CD, there could be nothing sensitive
in there, right?

  12.04LTS with 3.2.0-29-generic

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have a DELL XPS 15 L502x notebook with intel HD and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M
graphic card.
  installed:

The HDMI port is not working.

second monitor is plugged in on HDMI but is not recognized:

  $ xrandr
  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
  LVDS1 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm

VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

A indirect solution is to connect the monitor on the mini DP
  connector over a DP adapter:

  $ xrandr
  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3286 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192

     1024x768 60.0
     800x600 60.3 56.2
     640x480 59.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 connected 1920x1080+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
477mm x 269mm
     1920x1080 59.9*+ 60.0
     1680x1050 60.0

     1280x720 75.0
     1024x768 75.1 60.0
     800x600 75.0 60.3
     640x480 75.0 60.0
     720x400 70.1
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I hope this could be fixed. Not everybody can use the DP port.
