Title:
USB device is recognized but not automounted anymore

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 10.04
I have made a couple of changes to the system after which I discovered the
mounting problem:
I have swiched form madfwifi atheros drive to ndiswrapper
I have installed the nautilus action tool
I have changed startup options from standard to nomodeset
switching back to madwifi, uninstall nautilus did not solve the problem
sudo modprobe usb_storage fixes the problem but why is this service? not
started anymore?
  (newbie)

addition: in the mean time I used a workaround:
  gksudo gedit /etc/modules
  and add the following line
  usb_storage

kernel 3.2.... does not have this problem but than I do not have wifi at all.
