Status in The Linux Kernel:

Bug description:
The current raring kernel boots (with nosmp and libata.force=noncq),
newer kernels don't boot at all. They hang with ramdisk loading and
nothing seems to happen. This is difficult to debug, as it happens so
  early in the boot.
