Jdavid-1385, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. 12.04.3 reached EOL in August 2014. For more on this, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases .

Is this an issue in a supported release?

Title:
Screen won't fit the monitor resolution on my laptop

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrading the linux kernel, the next boot X started with wrong
resolution, after looking around I think it could be related to the
auto i915.modeset=0 in the kernel args, but I don't know how to get
this fixed. Moreover the xorg fallsback to vesa on init (I am not sure
this is the proper way to express that).
