I tested several of the upstream kernels, but none of them solved the problem. Just recently I updated all the packages and between them one update to the kernel 3.13.0-48-generic, I think it solved the problem. Yesterday I was connected for more than 4 hour and today for almost 6 hours without problems.
I have tracked the problem about the unstability, I'm not sure what all the lines mean but what I can see is that the network supplier changes continuously and Ubuntu was unable to follow these changes in some point. 13:25:48 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dbus[653]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.nm_dispatcher' 13:25:49 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:25:49 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with a4:18:75:e0:f2:f0 failed 13:26:43 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-STARTED 13:26:47 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <warn> nl_recvmsgs() error: (-33) Dump inconsistency detected, interrupted 13:27:18 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:27:18 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with a4:18:75:e0:f2:f0 failed 13:27:49 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:27:49 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with f8:4f:57:41:09:00 failed 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dhclient: DHCPREQUEST of 143.167.224.128 on wlan0 to 172.22.0.240 port 67 (xid=0x33f12feb) 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dhclient: DHCPACK of 143.167.224.128 from 172.22.0.240 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dhclient: bound to 143.167.224.128 -- renewal in 115 seconds. 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> (wlan0): DHCPv4 state changed renew -> renew 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> address 143.167.224.128 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> prefix 22 (255.255.252.0) 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> gateway 143.167.224.254 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> nameserver '143.167.2.110' 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> nameserver '143.167.1.110' 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> domain name 'shef.ac.uk' 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> wins '143.167.2.157' 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <info> wins '143.167.1.157' 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dbus[653]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.nm_dispatcher' (using servicehelper) 13:28:16 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 dbus[653]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.nm_dispatcher' 13:28:20 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:28:20 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with 40:f4:ec:1a:87:d0 failed 13:28:43 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-STARTED 13:28:51 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:28:51 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with ec:e1:a9:35:e4:60 failed 13:29:22 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: failed to get master session key from pre-auth EAPOL state machines 13:29:22 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: RSN: pre-authentication with f8:4f:57:41:09:00 failed 13:29:27 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 wpa_supplicant[929]: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=ec:e1:a9:35:62:60 reason=4 locally_generated=1 13:29:27 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 NetworkManager[905]: <warn> Connection disconnected (reason -4) 13:29:27 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 kernel: [ 6140.962458] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain 13:29:27 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 kernel: [ 6140.965045] cfg80211: World regulatory domain updated: 13:29:27 uos-HP-Pavilion-g6 kernel: [ 6140.965049] cfg80211: (start_freq -
