Interestingly this seems to only be an issue with virtualbox 4.3.26 r98998 from virtualbox.org.
This issue does _NOT_ seem to be present in the exact same "version" that is provided by the ubuntu repositories. after examining the two package, even though both are "4.3.26 r98988", the packages are actually quite different. Something in the virtualbox.org package causes this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443152 Title: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 00007fe416858408 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: To reproduce: install latest Virtual Box 4.3.26 64bit (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads) download modern.IE vm: https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/VirtualBox/IE9/Linux/IE9.Win7.For.Linux.VirtualBox.zip extract, import into VBox and start VM.
