Hi, I'm having the same issue on a Lenovo G510. A workaround (at least for me) is to disable NetworkManager quickly after booting, then it won't freeze. After that, remove bcmwl-kernel-source and the problem won't happen with brcmsmac, I can re-enable NetworkManager safely.
