I have the same issue with a Dell Inspirion 3847. I have updated my BIOS today (version A07) and still have the issue. If I leave the devices plugged in at boot, the system will not respond to anything at the (Xubuntu / lightdm) login screen, not even Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-Alt-F1. The only way to start my system is to unplug mouse and keyboard before boot, wait for login screen, then plug in keyboard and mouse.
Please let me know what information is required to help solve this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389006 Title: [Dell XPS 8700] USB mouse and keyboard unresponsive after last update Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on Dell XPS 8700 desktop.
