serpentus, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. I have to say it's rock solid and fast, you've done a great job, again! Congratulations! Ok, first of all, I'm on a Laptop. I have a problem with my sound, Hardy detects the sound card, when I run: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec I get: Codec: Realtek ALC885 So, sound card is detected, but sound only comes out from headphones and no sound from integrated speakers, I've read that on the 6.06 there was the same bug and followed the steps to fix it, but didn't work, I tried installing backports, installing kernel 386 (but with this kernel the sound card wasn't detected), re-installed the latest alsa, nothing worked. I also changed the alsa-base and added "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack" also tried changing the model, nothing fixed the problem. Another thing that is worth mentioning is that on 7.10 the sound worked perfectly! Thanks.
