Tony Middleton, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product- page.aspx?pid=4343#bios an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F3). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-f3 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500046 Title: Boot pauses for 2 minutes after upgrade to wily Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Since upgrade to wily the boot process pauses for two minutes before continuing. systemd-analyse shows Startup finished in 16.356s (firmware) + 2.898s (loader) + 2min 46.836s (kernel) + 16.298s (userspace) = 3min 22.389s ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: linux-image-4.2.0-11-generic 4.2.0-11.13 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-11.13-generic 4.2.1 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-11-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.19-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: tony 2547 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: tony 2547 F.... pulseaudio Date: Sat Sep 26 16:17:33 2015 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=925ed755-51a9-4968-ab9d-1a8c4c0cc93c InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-06-12 (106 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) IwConfig: eth0 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions.
