Jobin Joseph, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/61105/Intel- Workstation-Board-S5520SC-Family an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (64). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1505921 Title: System crashes in between and have to reboot frequently Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: nouvea E Xorg1212 failed to idle channel ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic 3.13.0-24.47 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.47-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.15 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: jobin 16806 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Oct 14 11:45:07 2015 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=579dc573-3425-4fe0-a07e-58c3c2146bf2 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-06 (8 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140417) IwConfig: eth0 no wireless extensions. eth1 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions.
