Nell Hardcastle, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

To advise, this report is scoped only to the keyboard not working (not
the touchpad or any other issue). Hence, you are welcome to file a new
report regarding the touchpad.

Despite this, the keyboard issue is an upstream one. Could you please
report this problem following the instructions verbatim at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel to the appropriate venue
(TO Dmitry Torokhov CC linux-input)?

Please provide a direct URL to your newly made report when it becomes
available so that it may be tracked.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  [MacBook8,1] keyboard does not work

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
4.2.0-18-generic and upstream 4.4-rc2 both have no input after grub.
The touchpad also doesn't work and I would guess they are related
since both devices show up as children of the GSPI and LPSS
  controllers in OS X.
