Title:
3.17..3.19 all fail with new Seagate Archive 8TB S-ATA disk (NCQ
timeouts) (also fails on lts-wily-4.2.0)
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Dealing with an occurence of
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93581 on linux
4.2.0-18-generic from the linux-lts-wily package.
I am currently testing the fix from
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/mkp/linux.git/commit/?h=bugzilla-93581&id=7c4fbd50bfece00abf529bc96ac989dd2bb83ca4
This will trigger drive failures requiring a hard powercycle on any
kernel that has the aforementioned bug relating to failing to clamp
transfer limits to device imposed limits as well as controller imposed
limits.
To reproduce: install a Seagate Archive 8TB (v2) hard drive, attempt
bulk data writes. I can reproduce with a seagate
Model=ST8000AS0002-1NA17Z on the AR15 firmware. Apparently this can
also happen on older firmware revs of this drive.
