Bug description:
Attempting to load the aufs kernel module results in an error
$ sudo modprobe aufs
modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:556 kmod_search_moddep() could not open
moddep file '/lib/modules/3.13.0-77-generic/modules.dep.bin'
$ file /lib/modules/3.13.0-77-generic/modules.dep.bin
/lib/modules/3.13.0-77-generic/modules.dep.bin: empty
$ uname -a
Linux template-bare-trusty-1454450408 3.13.0-77-generic #121-Ubuntu SMP Wed

$ sudo aptitude search aufs
