On Macbook Air 7.2 (running Mate 16.04) closing lid suspends correctly after initial boot. Sometimes works for several cycles. Usually on second and subsequent cycles, the machine resumes again after a few seconds, while the lid is shut. From then on, this behaviour is consistent and does not change. Also same problem after manually placed into suspend from power menu.

That is in the situation where machine is put into suspend for the first time after a complete reboot. In this case the machine suspends correctly and stays suspended as expected. The problem is consistent and can be reproduced as described any number of times.
