I'm also affected by this bug, changing to the 4.7.0-040700rc4-generic kernel did not fix the bug.

It doesn't work when i close lid. In settings i set suspension as a action for this event, but id does not work. Screen goes black, but it is not even locked to secure my laptop. After opening lid screen starts to work, but no password is needed. I'm using 16.04 LTS Ubuntu.
