I got the same problem (slow speed of wifi) with the ATHEROS AR928X from an
Acer aspire AS3410T and with the ATHEROS AR9285 from an Asus X70IC. The two
computers under ubuntu 16.04 with the last update.
It work perfectly under windows 7 with this two computers.

Title:
  Ubuntu 16.04 touchy WiFi Internet

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
When I installed Ubuntu 16.04 I had to reconfigure our modem and
router setup from bridge mode to DHCP mode. As a result, I lost all
ability on my computer to connect to WiFi.

However, the other eight connected devices (ex. iPad, PlayStation)
  have Internet connection.

After power-cycling our router and modem I'm now able to connect but I
get 2 Mbps download speed, and web pages load up slowly.
