Not sure why they weren't detected anymore, but adding the module for the wifi controller and sound card to /etc/modules seems to have solved the problem for now.

On one occasion, both of those worked and everything worked correctly. One other instance had just the mouse/cursor, but no wifi. All other times, neither of the two were present. Booting up the previous kernel (4.8.0-34.36) makes everything work properly.
