I attempted to port the above patch to our branch to test it, but it has conflicts with the linaro snapshot patch we apply. It appears that the conflicts are with a backport of r237607[*] applied to Linaro's gcc-6 branch. r237607 is also supposed to be the source of the patch in Comment #4 - so perhaps that backport was incomplete?
