Bug still present on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, running on an HP Elitebook 850
G2. Ubuntu is installed on an SSD, and I noticed that there were long
delays that the hard drive light wasn't active. A check of dmesg showed
two ~6 second delays in the boot process, both on the same problem:

If it weren't for those two 6-second delays, my laptop would boot Ubuntu
twice as fast (total boot time listed is 23.8 seconds). Any
ideas/solutions?

Title:
Hardy/Intrepid/Jaunty boot hangs with the message: "ACPI: EC: non-
query interrupt received, switching to interrupt mode"

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Status in linux package in Fedora:

Status in linux package in openSUSE:

Bug description:
Installed Hardy 8.04, but laptop hangs for about 15-30 seconds with
  the message:

"ACPI: EC: non-query interrupt received, switching to interrupt mode".

After the hang, the boot proceeds as normal.

Tried updating to the latest kernel (2.6.24-21-generic), but to no
  avail.

Tried giving the switch "acpi=off" at bootup, laptop doesn't hang, but
all ACPI related functions (standby, CPU throttling, etc) are removed.

Tried updating BIOS, but it is already the latest version.
