  bcmwl-kernel-source no longer works on hwe kernel

Bug description:
  bcmwl-kernel-source worked correctly on the original 16.04 LTS kernel,
  but no longer works on the hwe kernel (4.10.0-33).  I am using the b43
  open source driver temporarily in order to file this report.
