Title:
Black screen on return from hibernate since at least 4.13.0-25

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On the prior kernel installed on my machine, (4.13.0-21) the laptop
will return from hibernation fully functional, showing a login prompt
  and bringing back the desktop.

Since upgrading to this kernel image (4.13.0-25), the laptop boots,
shows the Lubuntu splash screen, but then never shows either a login
prompt or desktop - just a black screen as if the backlight is not on.

A short-term workaround proven to work is to choose Advanced from the
Grub menu and boot only into the 4.13.0-12 kernel version. However,
this is not a long-term option.
